PotatoTimer: A Pomodoro App That FORCES You to Take a Break

You know what's wrong with every Pomodoro app? The "skip break" button. It defeats the entire purpose. You tell yourself "just 5 more minutes" and suddenly it's been 3 hours without a break.

PotatoTimer doesn't have a skip button. When it's break time, your screen goes dark. Period.

How It Works

  • ⏱️ Work session starts → timer counts down
  • 🔔 Timer ends → your screen goes dark
  • 🚫 No skip button. No dismiss. No "just 5 more minutes."
  • ☕ Take your break. Come back refreshed.

Why "Force" Works

Studies show the #1 reason Pomodoro fails is people skip breaks. By removing that option, PotatoTimer makes the technique actually work.

Features

  • 🥔 Forced breaks — no cheating
  • 🖥️ Cross-platform — Windows, Mac, Linux (Electron)
  • ⚙️ Customizable timers — adjust work/break durations
  • 🎨 Clean UI — minimal distraction
  • 📊 Session tracking — see your productivity patterns

Quick Start

Your future self will thank you for not skipping breaks.

Be honest — do you actually take your Pomodoro breaks?
