Actually is there a technical reason on why ads cannot be loaded from a Backend: cookies.

There are some kind of AdServer trackings (vendors need to know how much performant their ads are) that require cookie-based tracking, for example:

"lead tracking" which tracks you with a pixel in a PageA when an Ad is served and later tracks again with a pixel at a PageB, and later tracks your click in the final action.
The pixels in the PageA and PageB are not images but cookie responses in order to create an user funnel to associate the click to the user navigation created from the Ad.

Another example is retargeting, when a domain-shared cookie is set from a SiteA (amazon p.ex.) and you navigate to a SiteB, perform a search and Amazon products are shown related to your search at SiteA.

Maybe the new cookie policies in 2020 will change how all this mess works, so let's see 😉
