Last few years I'm in awe with properties. For long time it was like 'some special kind of tests', and was in QA domain. It's not.
Properties is so much more than just the way to write tests.
... I will talk about this, but not now. For now, I just can't stop sharing an amazing property one guy proposed.
Every series present in the alerts (prometheus alerts) must be present in the prometheus on the healthy system.
It's like super simple. No brainer. Easily testable. Preventing thousands of errors and typos in alerts (they have tests, but you can have correlated typos in both), misconfiguration of targets, etc.
A very simple statement. Must be true for alerts to have meaning.
