In 2025, several open-source tools are transforming backend development, offering developers efficient, scalable solutions. Nitric simplifies cloud app development by defining infrastructure in code and supporting multiple languages, while Encore delivers high-performance, type-safe APIs for distributed systems with automation for local infrastructure setup. Appwrite is a comprehensive Backend-as-a-Service (BaaS) platform that handles user authentication, databases, and serverless functions, allowing developers to focus on building applications. Manifest consolidates backend configuration into a single YAML file, making setup faster and easier, with seamless frontend integration. Lastly, Nhost streamlines backend development for web and mobile applications, offering robust features without the complexity of managing backend infrastructure, empowering developers to build dynamic applications more efficiently.

Awesome post! 👏 Some really interesting backend tools! I have often wondered if it makes sense to package up the Baseline frameworks backend as a tool for building serverless API's, but there is a lot of value with connecting it all up in a monorepo with the front-ends nicely integrated.

Can any of these help me build a FastAPI backend? I need it to communicate with a react app. Sounds like Nhost but please confirm @arindam_1729
