Building astrology software is more complex than simply displaying a horoscope chart.
Different astrology systems follow different calculation methods, interpret planetary positions differently, and require their own specialised tools. Bringing these systems together in one platform was the main challenge behind my project, AstroIGen.
I started developing AstroIGen with one goal: to make multiple astrology systems accessible through a single browser-based application.

Application: https://astroigen.com/app/

- The Idea Behind AstroIGen
Astrologers often use different software or reference materials depending on the astrology system they practise.
For example:
- KP astrologers need planetary star lords, sub-lords, house significators, Bhava cusps, and Dasha details.
- Traditional Tamil astrologers may work with Jamakkol Prasannam, Sara Jothidam, and other traditional methods.
- Vedic astrologers use Rasi charts, divisional charts, planetary significations, Dasha systems, and transit analysis.
I wanted to bring these different requirements together instead of focusing on only one astrology method.
That idea became AstroIGen.
- Supporting Multiple Astrology Systems
One of the biggest challenges was organising different astrology methods within a single application.
AstroIGen includes tools across several categories.
KP Astrology
KP Astrology requires detailed planetary and house-level information.
Some of the available features include:
- KP birth chart
- Bhava cusps
- Planetary Star Lord and Sub Lord
- Significators
- Vimshottari Dasha
- Live transit overlay
- KP 249 Prasnam
The objective is to make important KP calculation details accessible in one place.
Vedic Astrology
The Vedic astrology section includes tools for chart analysis and traditional calculations.
Some features include:
- Shodashavarga charts, covering 20 divisional charts from D1 to D60
- Dasha and Bhukti
- Gochara (transit analysis)
- Planetary Karakathuvam
- Other supporting astrology references
Traditional Tamil Astrology
I also wanted AstroIGen to support traditional Tamil astrology practices.
Available tools include:
- Jamakkol Prasannam
- Sara Jothidam
- Sugar Nadi
- Degree System
- Pancha Pakshi
- Hora
Bringing these specialised tools into one application makes it easier for users to explore different methods without constantly switching between separate resources.
- The Challenge of Organising Everything
A multi-system astrology application needs more than a large collection of features.
Each system has its own terminology, calculation requirements, and workflow.
The challenge was to organise the application so that users could find the tools relevant to their practice without making the overall experience confusing.
My approach was to organise features according to their astrology systems and purposes.
This also allows the platform to grow as additional tools are developed.
- Making Astrology Software Browser-Based
Another important decision was to make AstroIGen browser-based.
Users do not need to install traditional desktop software to access the application.
The benefits include:
- Access through a web browser
- No separate installation required
- Usable on mobile phones and desktop computers
- A central place to access multiple astrology tools
- Easier access to updates and new features
My aim is to make astrology tools more accessible to both practising astrologers and students.
- Supporting Tamil and English Users
Astrology terminology can be difficult for beginners, especially when learning through unfamiliar language interfaces.
AstroIGen supports both Tamil and English interfaces.
This is particularly important for users who are familiar with traditional Tamil astrology terminology but also want to explore other astrology systems.
- Development Is an Ongoing Process
AstroIGen is an independent project, and development is continuing.
Building a platform with multiple astrology systems involves continuous improvements, testing, organising features, and listening to user feedback.
I want to continue improving the application based on how astrologers and learners actually use it.
Some areas I am interested in improving include usability, additional tools, and the overall user experience.
- Try AstroIGen
If you practise astrology, study astrology, or are interested in exploring your own horoscope, you can try the application.

AstroIGen brings KP Astrology, Traditional Tamil Astrology, and Vedic Astrology tools together in one browser-based platform.
- I Would Love Your Feedback
I have built AstroIGen to make multiple astrology systems accessible through one platform.
I would especially like to hear from:
- KP astrologers
- Traditional Tamil astrologers
- Vedic astrology practitioners
- Astrology students
- Developers interested in specialised software platforms
My question to developers and astrologers:
What is the biggest challenge you face when using astrology software?
Is it calculation accuracy, missing features, usability, or the lack of support for specialised astrology systems?
I would appreciate your thoughts and suggestions.
