Beaver VNC: Control Another Computer Directly From Your MacA second Mac sits in another room. A computer runs without a monitor attached. Or you want to work on a remote desktop without constantly switching devices.

VNC lets you view another computer’s screen on your own device and control it with your mouse and keyboard.

Beaver VNC brings that access to a focused Mac app.

Connect Directly to Your Computer

Beaver VNC connects to the hostname or IP address you specify. It supports macOS Screen Sharing and standard VNC servers.

Screen data and input travel directly between the computers involved. They are not routed through a Beaver VNC relay server. No service account is required. apps.apple.com

That makes it useful for existing setups: If you already have a reachable VNC server, you can connect directly to it.

Save Connections for Next Time

Frequently used connections can be saved in a list. Saved passwords stay in the macOS Keychain.

That means you do not have to look up the details every time you connect.

The remote display can fit the window. A view-only mode also lets you watch the screen without sending input to the other computer. apps.apple.com

Support for DynDNS

For connections with a changing IP address, a DynDNS setup can make access easier.

Beaver VNC can look up a saved DynDNS URL and resolve the current IP address before connecting. The associated credentials can be stored separately in Keychain. apps.apple.com

The target computer still needs to be reachable through your network setup.

Choose Your Connection Path Carefully

Standard VNC is often not encrypted end to end. Beaver VNC indicates when a connection is unencrypted.

Trusted networks, VPNs, or secured tunnels are the intended setting for these connections. apps.apple.com

A Tool for Direct Access

I developed Beaver VNC around a straightforward workflow: choose a connection, open the remote screen, and get to work.

The app requires no account, uses no analytics, and comes without a subscription.
