Turn Any Image or Video Into a Virtual Camera on MacVideo-call and recording apps normally expect a live webcam. But a camera does not always need to show what is happening in front of a lens.
You may want to display:
- A prepared introduction
- A product demonstration
- A presentation card
- A static information screen
- A prerecorded camera feed Getting an image or video into a camera input usually requires a complete broadcasting application. Tools such as OBS provide everything from scenes and transitions to audio mixing and live streaming.
That is useful when producing a show. It is excessive when all you need is one file.
A File Can Be a Camera
Beaver Cam turns an image or video file into a virtual camera on macOS.
Drop a file into the app and select Beaver Cam as the camera in your video-call, recording or streaming application.
An image remains visible continuously. A video starts automatically and repeats in a loop.
There are no scenes to configure, layers to arrange or broadcast settings to understand.
Use It Like Any Other Camera
Once enabled, Beaver Cam appears alongside the built-in camera and connected webcams.
It can be selected in compatible applications and browser-based services, including:
- Zoom
- Microsoft Teams
- Google Meet
- FaceTime
- Beaver Cast The receiving application does not need a special integration. It simply recognizes Beaver Cam as another camera available on the Mac.
Fit or Fill the Camera Frame
Images and videos do not always have the same aspect ratio as a standard camera frame.
Beaver Cam provides two straightforward display modes:
Fit shows the complete image or video. Empty space may remain around it when the aspect ratios differ.
Fill covers the entire camera frame. Parts of the source may be cropped at the edges.
That is all the layout control required. Text, logos and other visual elements can be added to the original PNG or video before it is loaded.
Not Another Streaming Studio
Beaver Cam is deliberately focused on a single task.
It does not combine a webcam with other media. It does not add effects, manage microphones, record broadcasts or stream to online platforms.
Your real webcam is already available to every video-call application. Beaver Cam adds the missing alternative: a local file that behaves like a camera.
This narrow focus keeps the workflow simple:
- Drop in an image or video.
- Choose Fit or Fill.
- Select Beaver Cam in the receiving app. ### Local and Private
Images and videos are processed locally on the Mac.
Beaver Cam does not upload media, require an online account or depend on a cloud service. The selected file remains under the user’s control.
One File. One Virtual Camera.
A virtual camera should not require building an entire production setup.
Beaver Cam provides the direct route from a prepared image or video to any compatible camera input on macOS:
