As much as I hate to admit it... I've been doing much of this for over a decade but never realized the full potential of slices, or how much more versatile they could be. I'm now certain that I have some embarrassingly over-complicated code in some of my past projects. Honestly, at this point I didn't even remember they were called 'slices', as I've gotten way too comfortable with just 'making do' with what I've known (and assuming I've fully grok'd things that I likely have not) for so many years. This is a perfect example of why it's always a good idea to freshen up on documentation and from time to time, ha. This is a great write-up, thank you!
