October was one of my most productive months so far, I officially completed Hacktoberfest 2025! This was my first real experience contributing to multiple open-source projects, and honestly, it changed the way I think about coding, collaboration, and learning.
Hacktoberfest 2025 wasn’t just about collecting pull requests.
It was about learning how to read, communicate, and contribute to real-world projects that skills that you can’t really get from tutorials alone.
By the end of the month, I had contributed to four completely different codebases:
• One taught me backend testing,
• One taught me frontend motion design,
• One taught me async logic,
• And one taught me code clarity.
I started October nervous about even opening someone else’s repo.
Now I end it confident that I can step into any open-source project, figure things out, and leave it a little better than I found it.
