Solution overview
The blog post consists of the following phases:
Create AWS Budgets with Zero Spend Budget
Create AWS Budgets with Monthly Cost Budget and Create Budget Report on Daily Basis
Phase 1: Create AWS Budgets with Zero Spend Budget
- Open the AWS Budgets console and create a budget with default settings as zero spend budget. Specify the budget name, email recipients and create the budget. This will be notified once the spend is above $0.01 incurred. We can edit the alert and add-on the sns alerts option.
Phase 2: Create AWS Budgets with Monthly Cost Budget and Create Budget Report on Daily Basis
- In the AWS Budgets console, create a budget with a monthly cost budget. Specify the budget name, email recipients and budget amount. This will be notified once the actual spend reaches 85% or 100%. Also create a budget report on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
Clean-up
Delete the AWS Budget and Budget Report.
