I recognize that this is an unnecessarily snarky way of putting this, but there is a bit of an uncanny valley between "the normal news" and "being in the industry and paying super close attention to the direct source material". Good tech podcasts like their show Pivot do the best job at filling that gap, but it's still mostly built on spicy takes.

This Fastly incident gives me a new relatable anecdote which would probably change how I describe how I more clearly tell that story, but this is a quick version of what went down.

It's just a matter of time before data will have to live in the country in which it is collected. And then the local government will control the data.
Better start learning how to encrypt your data yourself BEFORE you upload it to the cloud.
