Actually what I hate about "responsive" is not how they handle narrow screens (which seems to be their primary focus) but how they handle ultrawide screens. I too often end up with a narrow text in the middle with empty parking slots on both sides all the while the content in the middle is screaming to be expanded (data tables, timeline charts, etc.)
It's like they don't even use the dev tools device simulator to check their work at different resolutions.
They don't seem to realize that 4k screens need everything to be literally doubled in size to look right. The worst offenders are the ones using px for measurements instead of rem/em.
