Ubuntu / Kubuntu 26.04 — emacs

The Kubuntu desktop in this release is based on Wayland. (Although, most X11 applications still run. A notable exception is xmag.)

For emacs, install the package emacs-pgtk, not the package emacs. With the package emacs, you would immediately notice that you cannot resize the Emacs window as you like.

The 'p' in "pgtk" stands for Wayland.

No, really, "pgtk" means "pure GTK" and means that Emacs should not use a mix of GTK and X11 calls, just GTK calls.
