The IONOS webmail login sits at mail.ionos.de, and the same page serves as the IONOS mail login for IONOS mailboxes. A 1&1 mail login for a DSL or mobile contract starts at www.1und1.de/login. Which page you need depends on where the mailbox was created.
This guide lists every login we could open and what each one asks for. It then covers sign up, resets and mail programs. Every fact comes from IONOS and 1&1 help pages and from the login pages themselves, read in October 2026. We did not register or sign in, and we are not affiliated with IONOS or 1&1. Which Login Belongs to Which Mailbox
Two companies are involved. The company history page explains how. 1&1 Internet merged with ProfitBricks in 2018 and became 1&1 IONOS. In September 2019 the name changed again. IONOS describes the new brand as the one for domain, email and website. The page adds that the other group companies, with their DSL, mobile and fibre offers, were not affected.
That split shows up in the logins. IONOS's help gives a rule of thumb. Telecom products, and the addresses tied to them, live in the 1&1 account. IONOS addresses live in the IONOS account and open in IONOS webmail.

The help pages do not publish a list of address endings. For IONOS the ending is the domain you own, such as mustermann@example.com. In the Control-Center you pick a domain while creating an address, and the name before the @ may have up to 30 characters.
The Old Webmailer Address
Many bookmarks still point to webmailer.1und1.de. The page has two notices. The first says you now find the Webmailer at www.1und1.de/login. The second says IONOS customers find their webmailer at mail.ionos.de. Both suggest saving the new page as a bookmark.

Other IONOS Logins
The IONOS login page also links to Mein Konto, HiDrive and E-Mail-Archiv. HiDrive is online storage at hidrive.ionos.com. The Data Center Designer for IONOS Cloud sits at dcd.ionos.com. None of these opens a mailbox.
1&1 Mail Login at www.1und1.de/login
The Kunden-Login page shows three cards. They are the Control-Center, the Webmailer and the Cloud-Speicher. The Webmailer card leads to 1&1 webmail. Each card has a yellow "Zum Login" button. The Control-Center card also links to "Hilfe zum Login" and "Zugang anlegen", and to the app in the App Store and Google Play.

Open the Webmailer
The Webmailer button opens a page titled "Login 1&1 Webmailer". It has two fields and a Login button.
- Open www.1und1.de/login.
- Press "Zum Login" under Webmailer.
- Type your full email.
- Type the one you set in the Control-Center.
1&1 webmail shows your mail, calendar and address book in the browser, the guide says. A message can go to at most 200 recipients, CC and BCC included.
The Control-Center
The Control-Center is the customer area. The Control-Center asks for a username and the customer password. The username is either the customer number or an email. You find the number on an invoice, an order confirmation or a bank statement.
The help adds a warning. Logging in with a domain name no longer works for DSL or mobile contracts. If you own a domain at 1&1, use login.ionos.de for it.
IONOS Webmail Login at mail.ionos.de
The IONOS webmail login redirects to id.ionos.de, where the page is titled "Webmail Login". The form is called "Mein Webmail Login". It asks for your email first. The Weiter button then moves you on.

The IONOS mail login needs the full email, domain included, and the matching password.
What IONOS Webmail Needs
IONOS webmail 2.0 is meant for hosting customers with an IONOS email, says IONOS's requirements page. It comes with web hosting packages, eShop contracts, server contracts and MyWebsite contracts.
IONOS lists these browsers:
- Google Chrome, the current and the previous version
- Mozilla Firefox, the current ESR version and the one before
- Microsoft Edge (Chromium), the current version
- Apple Safari 17.x
- Android 10 or newer with the current Chrome
- iPhone and iPad with Safari 17.x or newer
Other browsers may work, but IONOS does not support them.
Signing In on Someone Else's Device
IONOS recommends two habits when you open IONOS webmail on a shared computer. Log out before you leave the device, and open a private window. The form itself carries the same hint: "Nicht Ihr Gerät? Melden Sie sich nach der Sitzung ab oder verwenden Sie den privaten Browsermodus."
Two-Step Confirmation
IONOS offers a second step for IONOS webmail. After the first step, IONOS webmail asks for a six-digit code from an authenticator app. IONOS names FreeOTP and Google Authenticator.
You switch it on inside IONOS webmail. Click your initials at the top right, choose "Login & Sicherheit" and then "Bestätigung in zwei Schritten einrichten". IONOS asks you to write down the 16-digit recovery code.
Once the second step is on, Apple Mail, Outlook and Thunderbird no longer accept the regular one. You create an app password in the same area and enter it in the program.
IONOS Account Login at login.ionos.de
The account login is a different door from IONOS webmail. It is not the IONOS mail login. The IONOS account holds your contracts, domains, hosting and email. IONOS says you can sign in with your customer number, the contact email on file, or one of your domains.

If the second step is off, IONOS may email a six-digit code to the contact address. The code is valid for 20 minutes. After that you start a new attempt.
IONOS's help separates two logins. One belongs to the account. Another belongs to each mailbox. Check which one the page asks for.
Create a Mailbox at IONOS or in the Control-Center
Both kinds of mailbox are created in the customer account, not on a webmail page.
Activate the Control-Center
New customers get an email with an activation link, which stays valid for a few days. The steps are:
- Open the link and choose between customer number and email as your username.
- Press "Code anfordern". A verification code arrives by SMS.
- Type the code, choose a new password and press Speichern.
Existing customers start from the login page instead. They press "Kein Zugang? Jetzt registrieren", enter the number and ask for a registration email.
Add an Address in the Control-Center
Open Vertrag, then "E-Mail-Adressen verwalten". Type the name for the new mailbox and choose a domain. Press "Jetzt einrichten". Then choose how it works.
The help describes two uses. A mailbox keeps incoming mail, and you read it in the Webmailer or a mail program. A forwarding address passes mail to up to three other recipients.
Add a Mailbox at IONOS
IONOS's guide covers the Basic and Business packages. The package needs at least one finished domain. Then:
- Log in at login.ionos.de.
- Open Menü, then E-Mail.
- Click "Neue E-Mail-Adresse anlegen" and choose a product, for example Mail Basic.
- Type the part before the @, choose the domain and set a password.
- Click Speichern. The mailbox is ready after a few minutes.
If the domain uses an external mail server, such as Microsoft 365, creating the mailbox there fails.
IONOS Mailbox Packages
IONOS's page for its own email domain showed these packages:

The page says each package can be cancelled monthly and includes a free domain. It also offers a 30-day trial. The Control-Center pages show no price for the mailbox side.
Forgot Your Password? Where to Reset It
The right reset depends on which login you lost. None of these resets happens on the login form.
Forgot a Control-Center Mailbox Password
The guide says to set the mailbox password in the Control-Center. Log in there, open your contract and use the button for managing addresses.
If you cannot enter the Control-Center, press "Passwort vergessen" on its login page. Enter the number. You then get the delivery methods your account allows: an SMS link, an email link or a letter.
Forgot an IONOS Mailbox Password
IONOS cannot send a mailbox password, old or new. The contract holder assigns a fresh one through the account that holds the mailbox.
- Sign in to the account at login.ionos.de.
- Click the E-Mail tile.
- Click the three dots beside the address.
- Choose "Passwort ändern", type the new one and confirm.
The change is active within a few minutes. A forwarding address has none. Check the forwarding target instead.
Forgot the IONOS Account Password
Open passwort.ionos.de and enter your customer number or one of your registered domains. With a stored mobile number you can pick an activation email or an SMS code. Without one, IONOS sends an activation email with a link named "Neues Passwort erstellen". The link works for four hours.
Change a Login You Still Remember
If you still remember the login, open the initials menu in IONOS webmail. The same Login & Sicherheit area has a "Passwort ändern" page. Confirm the new one there, then update every mail program and every phone.
Mail Programs and Phone Apps
You can read both kinds in a mail program instead of IONOS webmail or the Webmailer. The username is the full email in both cases.

Both companies recommend IMAP. The guide asks you to switch on SMTP authentication for the outgoing server.
The Mail App
The guides cover a Mail-App for Android and for iOS devices. You open the app, type your email and password, and press Login. It can sync your address book, which is optional.
Phone Setup for IONOS
IONOS's help lists no separate app for webmail. It has guides for Gmail and the Samsung mail client on Android, and for Apple's Mail on iPhone. IONOS webmail itself needs no setup. A quick way to test a login is to sign in there.
When Your Mail Login Fails
Start with the quick checks from IONOS's login guide:
- Look for typing errors, special characters and upper or lower case.
- Check whether Caps Lock is on.
- Check whether the number pad is active.
- Try a private window, or clear the browser cache.
- Look at the IONOS status page, which showed "Alle Systeme funktional" when we visited.
For the Webmailer, the guide suggests three more steps. Update the browser. Reset the browser settings. Turn off a firewall or protection program briefly to test it. If you can receive mail but not send it, look for a message from the 1&1 Abuse Department and follow it.
When mail does not arrive, the guide points to postmaster-contact.ionos.de. The tool walks you through the problem step by step. It is offered together with IONOS, the guide adds.
Beware of Fake Login Pages
Type the IONOS webmail address, mail.ionos.de, or www.1und1.de/login yourself. Do not sign in from a link in a message. IONOS has a service named "Verdächtige E-Mail (Phishing)" at phishing-contact.ionos.de. Our reverse email lookup shows the domain behind a sender, which helps with a first check.
Emailing IONOS Users? Verify Before You Send
Not every reader owns a mailbox here. Some of you send to people who do. IONOS mailboxes sit on the customer's own domain, so a list can hold many different endings that all run on IONOS. You cannot tell by the ending alone.
IONOS's help also describes catch-all addresses. A catch-all collects every message sent to a name that does not exist on the domain. Mail to a typo is then accepted instead of bouncing. IONOS creates one with an asterisk in front of the domain, such as *@example.com.
