xTool dropped the F2 as a direct upgrade to the F1, and this time they actually listened to what users were asking for — more power. A lot more power.
What's Changed
- Blue Diode: 10W → 15W
- IR Diode: 2W → 5W (that's 150%+ more power!)
The IR diode jump from 2W to 5W is the real story here. That's over 150% more power, which means deeper cuts on metal and noticeably faster etch speeds. Side-by-side tests with the F1 showed the same quality results — just faster on the F2.
Highlights
Actually portable — Same form factor as the F1 with a removable bottom plate, making it easy to place on larger objects or create jig inserts. Perfect for craft fairs or on-site client work.
F1 accessories work on F2 — Already have the expanded build plate or rotary attachments? You don't need to re-buy them. Full compatibility across the lineup.
xTool Studio got a real upgrade — Interface is more intuitive, materials library is extensive, and finding settings for your project is much faster.
Who It's For
- Making custom pieces for clients (jewelry, monograms on cufflinks)
- Traveling to events or job sites regularly
- Makers who want a fast laser but don't have a dedicated workshop
Price and Verdict
$1,499
If you already own an F1, the upgrade isn't urgent — the power bump is nice but probably not worth the cost. But if you're in the market for a new portable laser engraver in 2026, the F2 is the new king of that hill.
It's not a fiber laser — don't expect fiber speeds and depths. But for a portable unit this size and price point, you won't find anything better.
