7 Christmas 3D Prints to Start Now (Advent Calendar, Ornaments, Cookie Cutters)

December is when printers earn their keep. These are the Christmas prints I would start in the next two weeks, in the order I would run them, with the settings that worked for me. Everything below prints with no supports.

Week 1: the long prints

  1. Advent calendar. 24 boxes at about 1 hour 45 minutes each. Start now, run one batch a night. 24 numbered boxes with lids
  2. Napkin rings. Six patterns, 28 mm wide, print standing up in 50 minutes. Christmas napkin ring set

Week 2: decorations

  1. Snowflakes. Print flat, 40 minutes each. White or translucent blue filament looks best. Six unique snowflakes
  2. Name tags and ornaments. Letters A to Z and 0 to 9 with a hanging loop, so you can spell any name. Pause at layer 13 for a two-color print. Alphabet ornament set

Week 3: baking

  1. Cookie cutters. 14 mm tall, 1.2 mm wall, wide flange. Star, tree, gingerbread man, mitten, bauble
  2. Gingerbread house kit. Walls, roof and chimney cutters. House cutter kit
  3. Cookie stamps. Emboss sugar cookie dough with a raised pattern. Stamp set

Settings cheat sheet

Print Layer Walls Infill
Cutters, stamps 0.2 mm 3 15 percent
Boxes, rings 0.2 mm 3 10 percent
Snowflakes, tags 0.2 mm 3 100 percent (thin)

PLA is not certified food safe, so line cutters with parchment, hand wash them, and keep them out of the oven and dishwasher.

Schedule it

Eight printer-nights covers everything above if you run the advent boxes in batches of three. Print the gift tags last so the names are right.
