Hey everyone!
I'm Shubham Shah, a Computer Science student at Jain (Deemed-to-be) University, Karnataka, India, originally from Nepal. Online, I go by bornebyte ā the alias I use for my developer identity and technical projects.
I'm someone who loves turning ideas into working software. For me, programming isn't just about writing code; it's about understanding problems, exploring how technology works, and building solutions that people can actually use.
What do I do?
I enjoy exploring different areas of technology and building across the stack, from frontend interfaces to backend systems, databases, deployment, and infrastructure.
Some areas I'm interested in include:
- Web development: React, Next.js, Node.js, Express, and modern full-stack applications.
- Mobile development: Flutter and React Native.
- Linux and infrastructure: Linux internals, Docker, networking, servers, and deployment.
- AI and agentic AI: LLMs, RAG, tool calling, AI agents, and intelligent applications.
- Programming fundamentals: Python, Java, C, C++, Go, data structures, and understanding how things work under the hood.
I don't want to limit myself to one technology or framework. I want to understand the fundamentals well enough to choose the right tools for a problem and build a solution from the ground up.
Things I've been building
Hostello ā Hostel Management SaaS
One of my major projects is Hostello, a hostel management platform designed to replace fragmented registers, spreadsheets, and WhatsApp-based workflows with a more organized digital system.
It brings together different roles and workflows, including administration, wardens, students, room allocation, attendance, and other hostel operations.
Building Hostello has helped me think beyond simply writing code. It has pushed me to consider real users, permissions, data isolation, workflows, and the challenges of turning an idea into a usable product.
I've also explored projects involving music discovery, cross-platform note-taking, and other developer-focused ideas.
Currently exploring AI
Recently, I've been spending more time learning about generative AI and agentic AI. I'm interested in going beyond API calls and understanding what happens behind the scenes ā from model behavior and context management to memory, retrieval, tool execution, and agent architecture.
My goal is to build AI-powered products that solve real problems, rather than just create demos that look impressive.
A little more about me
I'm originally from Nepal, studying Computer Science in India, and constantly trying to expand my technical understanding.
I enjoy learning deeply, experimenting with new technologies, working on independent projects, and sharing what I learn with others. I've also had opportunities to participate in hackathons and collaborate on ideas that turn technical knowledge into practical solutions.
I believe a developer shouldn't be defined only by the number of languages or frameworks they know, but by their ability to learn, think critically, solve problems, and keep building.
I'm still learning, still experimenting, and still figuring out how far I can take my ideas.
Let's connect!
I'll be sharing things I build, technical concepts I learn, problems I solve, experiments that work, and mistakes that teach me something.
If you're interested in software engineering, Linux, AI, open source, or building products from scratch, I'd love to connect and learn from you.
Find me online as bornebyte. Let's build something meaningful!
