Congrats on the milestone, Hema! 🎉 Random question... has there been a post you thought would do really well, but another one ended up surprising you instead? 😄
That's such a fun question, I feel like every writer has at least one of those! The posts I'm most confident about before hitting publish are rarely the ones that end up resonating the most. 😄
Hey, I'm Hema 👋
Developer, writer, and creator of Dev Opportunity Radar, a weekly series published every Friday on DEV, helping people discover opportunities they might otherwise miss.
The biggest surprise was probably "Reading Anthropic's When AI Builds Itself Changed How I Think About AI and Software Engineering." It was a much longer analysis than I usually write, and I wasn't sure how many people would actually read it. But it ended up leading to some really thoughtful discussions and conversations about AI, software engineering, and where our industry is heading. Those conversations taught me a lot too.
On the other hand, I really hoped "Your Career Matters. So Does the Person Building It." would reach more people because it's a topic that's very close to my heart. Health is something many of us don't think much about until it starts affecting our lives and careers. It didn't get the reach I was hoping for, but I'm still grateful for the meaningful conversations it started.
I think that's one of the things I love about writing on DEV. You can never really predict which post will resonate the most, and sometimes the biggest reward isn't the views; it's the conversations that follow 💙
