Why My AI Tools Run Locally

Every text and image my tools produce costs me nothing extra. I built the whole setup to run locally on my own PC, so there's no per-item charge. Whether I generate ten drafts or a thousand, the cost stays the same.

The local models do the writing. A stronger model joins at the end as a reviewer: it reads what was produced and decides whether it's good enough to publish. Everyday costs stay at zero, and every piece still gets a demanding editor.

What makes it reliable is a short set of design rules I apply everywhere.

Files are read exactly as written. If something fails while a file loads, the pipeline stops and reports the problem. A fallback value is used only where I've deliberately set one, so a guessed value can't quietly slip into the output.

Invisible characters stop the run. One common example is the byte order mark (BOM), a hidden marker some programs add at the start of a text file. You can't see it on screen, yet it can break how the file is read. My pipeline catches it and halts before any damage is done.

Writing and facts are checked in separate steps. The quality review looks at the writing itself: clarity, tone, mistakes. Facts come from dedicated fact sheets, and each sheet records the date it was verified, so I always know how current the information is.

Account IDs are stored as text. Many programs, spreadsheets included, round off long numbers. With account IDs, one changed digit would send content to the wrong account, so they're saved as text and stay exactly as entered.

None of these rules is complicated, and together they let the system run every day without me watching over it.

If you already run something similar, send me the one rule that has saved you the most trouble. I'd like to compare notes.
