when did stackoverflow become the most pointless place to ask a question?

So I'm really struggling to get LDAP to authenticate against the server (any links to good resources would be appreciated) and post a question on Stackoverflow which immediately decides it should be on Superuser instead.
The question contains a clear list of steps taken and links to articles followed.

The only response is 'what steps did you do?'

Why has the community got so pathetic when it used to be so helpful?
