How Technology Enables Universities to Scale Education

Technology has changed more than classroom teaching.

It has also changed how universities can reach students.

Traditional campus-based education requires students and teachers to be connected to physical locations. Open and distance-learning models can remove much of that geographic limitation.

IGNOU provides an example of this large-scale approach, with students able to study across different regions through its open-learning structure.

This creates an interesting technology question:

How far can a university scale when physical location is no longer the main constraint?

Digital learning platforms, online resources, regional centers, and flexible study models have made it possible for universities to reach learners at a scale that traditional campuses cannot easily replicate.
