What are Motion Sensors?All Explained

Motion sensors can cater to anyone, from tech-savvy smart homeowners to late-adopting analog lovers. These easy-to-use devices fit right into any space, providing an extra layer of security.

Motion sensors work by detecting movement, so they are well-known for alerting you to intruders and setting off alarms. This is definitely a classic use. But they can also help you keep an eye on your teenagers, pets, or other family members, giving you some extra peace of mind.

In this section, we will answer some common questions about motion sensors and explain their benefits.

What Are the Different Types of Motion Sensors, and What Can They Do?

Passive Infrared
The passive infrared sensor is the most popular type, especially in home security systems. It detects changes in temperature by sensing body heat, which can alert you if someone is present. This is the technology used in our motion sensors!

Microwave (MW)
Microwave sensors send out waves that are not noticeable to us. They catch reflections from moving objects, allowing them to cover larger areas than infrared sensors. However, they can be more affected by interference from other objects.

Dual Technology Motion Sensors
Some motion sensors combine both infrared and microwave methods.

These are the three main types of motion sensors, each with its own unique features. When you combine them with other smart products, the possibilities are really exciting! (Just so you know, our motion sensors use passive infrared technology!)
