The market is oversaturated with javascript developers its very competitive. However many languages like Python have similar syntax. So if you know javascript you can pick up other scripting languages quickly giving you an advantage as a developer.

Learning the same thing everyone is doing also means there's more competition in the market, so it may be better to specialize in some niche technology if you aim for greater salaries.

I honestly don't see javascript waning in popularity anytime soon. Many front end web developers need people who know javascript.
