Week in Review: Scaling Success and Conquering Complex Customizations

This week showcased impressive data migration capabilities, demonstrating our ability to manage large-scale projects and intricate technical demands. We successfully migrated or processed over 1.2 million entities in a single migration, alongside deploying custom solutions for complex attribute mappings and preserving historical data.

Record-Breaking Volumes and Platform Triumphs

Our migration processes proved efficient, with approximately 189,400 entities successfully moved across all migrations this period. A significant achievement was the progression of a large project, involving over 1,224,200 entities migrating from Magento to WooCommerce. This project highlights our capacity for handling substantial data volumes.

We continued to see strong demand for platform upgrades, especially those targeting Shopify. The WooCommerce to Shopify migration was most popular, followed by successful, high-volume PrestaShop to Shopify migrations, including a large spa parts retailer moving over 44,900 entities.

Key Migration Achievements:

• A significant PrestaShop to Shopify migration successfully moved over 71,800 entities, transitioning a major parts supplier.
• Shopify remains a popular choice, with a retailer migrating approximately 37,300 entities during a major WIX to Shopify transition.
• We observed a strong number of self-migrations, particularly in BigCommerce to Shopify and internal Magento upgrades, reflecting client confidence in our automated process.

Customization Corner: Engineering Solutions

The technical support team resolved several highly complex issues, ensuring data integrity when standard migration processes were insufficient. Our engineers handled deep-level data transformation requests, demonstrating that no customization is too difficult.

Notable Technical Resolutions:

• Volusion Store Credit Conversion: We configured custom logic for a recent migration, converting legacy Volusion Rewards Points directly into Shopify Customer Store Credit balances on a 1:1 basis, maintaining customer loyalty data.
• NopCommerce Customer Role Mapping: Resolved an issue requiring custom logic to export all clients (including guests) from NopCommerce and map their specific roles as tags within Shopify, a crucial requirement for a B2B retailer.
• Complex Product Attribute Mapping (WooCommerce to Wix): Delivered a custom solution to ensure standard WooCommerce product attributes were correctly interpreted and migrated as functional product options in the target Wix store.
• Image and Price Integrity Fixes (Xtcommerce): Fixed critical errors for a client where products were migrating with incorrect image sizes (100x100px), missing secondary images, and displaying net pricing instead of inclusive of VAT, requiring several custom script adjustments.
• SEO Redirect Implementation (Wix to Shopify): Implemented a full migration with custom logic to clear existing blogs and posts on the target platform and create new ones with correct SEO URLs/slugs and corresponding 301 redirects, essential for maintaining search rankings.
