Moving to the U.S for a software developer job

Is it worth it to move to the U.S for a software developer position. I have been hearing all about how housing is extremely expensive and takes out most of your salary.

It all depends which state you decide to buy a house in and even then it depends on which area in that state. Right now if you do research most states which house the FANG companies tend to have a higher cost of living but higher salary and other states with Fortune 500 companies have a mix. For instance my state Maryland is in between because we do have Microsoft and Amazon close by and the cost of living is somewhat expensive but way better than California or New York, on top of the salary is pretty fair too.

Actually after I wrote this post I did more research and it turns out I was just looking at expensive states.
I'll probably have to go to Massachusetts first just because I have to.

I found Tennessee to be cheap. Is it not?
