Last year in June, I did a 4-week level design challenge where each week I spun a random wheel and made a game in the chosen engine. I now want to revisit this challenge, but this time each week I will be making a level or a quest in an already existing game using public mod tools instead of Unity, Godot, and Unreal.
Last year I made a level a week in four different engines. This time I want to double the time given to two weeks per project, giving myself more time to learn the modding tools and try to create something really special.
The games that will be part of the random wheel generator are as follows:
- Baldur's Gate 3
- Call of Duty: Black Ops III Zombies
- Divinity: Original Sin 2
- Fallout 4
- Half-Life 2
- Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number
- LEGO Star Wars
- Portal 2
- Skyrim
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
This challenge is meant to improve my level design skills, and all of these games have been chosen because they are some of my favourites. I’ve also applied to work at most of the studios on this list at some point over the last year or two.
