This is a submission for the Hacktoberfest Weekend Challenge: Build for a Friend
What I Built
I built MAHA-MOSAIC, an interactive website that makes it easier and more enjoyable to explore Maharashtra.
I built it for a friend who wanted to discover more about Maharashtra's districts, places, culture, and identity, but found information scattered across different websites.
Instead of making a simple list, I wanted to create a visual experience that feels like exploring a digital mosaic.
MAHA-MOSAIC brings together all 36 districts of Maharashtra with:
- πΊοΈ Interactive district exploration
- πΈ Real Maharashtra photographs
- ποΈ Cultural and historical highlights
- β¨ Smooth animations
- π± Responsive design
- π Easy visual exploration
The goal was simple:
Make discovering Maharashtra feel like exploring a digital mosaic.

How I Built It
I built MAHA-MOSAIC as a modern interactive web project using:
- HTML
- CSS
- JavaScript
- Node.js
- Modern web UI techniques
- Vercel for deployment
I focused on making the website visual and easy to explore rather than presenting Maharashtra as a basic directory.
I also replaced generic emoji-based visuals with real Maharashtra-related photographs to make the experience more authentic.
AI in My Development Process
I used AI as a development assistant during the project.
It helped me with:
- Structuring the website
- Generating and refining UI ideas
- Debugging code
- Improving interactive components
- Organizing content
- Refining the user experience
I made the final decisions about the design, features, content, and implementation.
Why Does Open Innovation Matter?
Open innovation matters to me as a student developer because it makes experimentation and learning more accessible.
Open technologies allow developers to inspect, modify, experiment with, and share what they build.
During this project, I learned how AI-assisted development can help turn an idea into a working product quickly while still keeping the developer involved in the decisions.
I also believe that sharing projects publicly helps other students learn from real projects rather than only from tutorials.
My Agent Session
I don't have a DevRelay agent session to share for this project.
Prize Categories
I am submitting MAHA-MOSAIC for:
Hacktoberfest Weekend Challenge: Build for a Friend
I am not claiming a partner category because I don't want to claim a technology category that the project does not genuinely use.
Final Thoughts
MAHA-MOSAIC started with a simple question:
What can I build that someone I know would actually enjoy using?
That question turned into a project celebrating Maharashtra's districts, places, culture, and visual identity.
This challenge reminded me that a project doesn't have to be huge to be meaningful.
Sometimes, you just need to build something useful for one person.
Thanks for checking out MAHA-MOSAIC! β€οΈ
