What is the Impostor Syndrome?

Joining a remote team project like a Chingu Voyage means you’ve recognized the value of working outside of your comfort zone. But along with the boost it brings to your your technical & team skills also comes periods of uncertainty & self doubt.

The Impostor Syndrome is the feeling that everyone knows more than you do and how can you possibly hope to keep up with the rest of the team??? Every Developer has this feeling and when this happens remember that you aren’t alone.

The diagram on the left is your perception, but the one on the right is reality.

When you recognize you are starting to be affected by the Impostor Syndrome take a deep breath, relax, and realize there’s always a teammate who knows something more about a particular topic than others on the team.

But also realize that there’s a topic you know more about than your teammates do — and it’s your opportunity to be a true teammate and share what you know!

You aren’t alone and you know way more than you think you do!

Before you Go!

Chingu helps you to get out of “Tutorial Purgatory” by transforming what you’ve learned into experience. The experience to boost your Developer career and help you get jobs.
