I've been designing websites since 1994. Over the years, the definition of UX and UI have evolved.
A few years ago, UI didn't include javascript frameworks. Then there was UI design and UI development and javascript frameworks went to UI development from Front End development.
Now, I have problems finding work because UX requires wireframes and A/B studies and UI is typically Development so React or Angular is a must, even though it wasn't a few years ago.

Do you think UI is more about implementing a design rather than creating it?
