I'm not from South America. But I'm commenting anyway because I felt bad seeing that there isn't any comment.
Anyway, when I started my career as a remote programmer, I had some years of personal projects experience, but no professional experience. I was in my final year of Bachelors then. I got my first project through Freelancer.com.
