That's a good question! You made me think, because, at our startup, we put most of the focus on the professional achievements of our dev users.

I think there is a rise of more people adding personal details, like life events to their professional online presence. Tech Lead from Youtube comes to mind here. What you can observe on his channel is that people first came for the professional content but stayed/got more invested in the personal bits.

It's a super tricky balancing act. It also depends on what you share from your personal life (how in-depth you go). I actually asked one of our recruiting partners about the topic and he said that he is only seeing a small handful of devs sharing more personal things in any given search. And that it doesn't bother him at all, it just shows a bit more of the human side of the candidates. In some cases, it can show how well/how fast the candidate would fit in with a new team. If they are sharing controversial stuff, of course, that's another story.

So, in summary, having both personal and professional sides in one can be just as respectable as a professional-only presence, as long as they complement each other.

Thanks for your detailed answer, and thanks for having asked one of your recruiting partners. This helped me a lot!
