Two data points anchor this release: the pre and post capacity of the same corridor, and the pre and post travel time for the same route. Al Mustaqbal Street measures 6,600 vehicles per hour today across three lanes each way. Once the RTA's widening to four lanes each way is done, that becomes 8,800, a 33 percent increase on a fixed length of road, about 3.5 kilometres between Za'abeel Palace Street and Financial Centre Street.
The travel time series is the more interesting one to log. The World Trade Centre to Za'abeel Palace Street connector that opens 14 August cuts a measured event-day trip from about 10 minutes to 2. The RTA's projection for the full corridor once everything is built is 6 minutes instead of 13, roughly a 54 percent cut. These are stated, not modeled by us, so treat them as the authority's own before and after benchmark rather than an independent measurement.
Three more structures are dated: a second bridge end of August, a third in October, and three tunnels (1,500 metres combined, rated at 4,500, 3,000 and 1,500 vehicles per hour respectively) in February 2027. That gives four discrete opening dates against one AED 633 million budget line, useful if you're tracking capital spend against delivered capacity over time.
Total project cost is AED 633 million, and the RTA cites roughly half a million residents and visitors as the affected population, both worth keeping as denominators if you're normalizing the spend or the capacity gain.
