DEWA's investment in Dubai's electricity transmission network has passed AED 10 billion, and the districts getting new substations map closely onto the city's next building booms.

In the first half of 2026 the utility energised eight 132kV substations, 1,200 megavolt amperes of capacity, for about AED 970 million, plus a 400/132kV station at Saih Al Dahal adding 2,000 megavolt amperes. Dubai now has 402 transmission substations. New capacity landed in Al Khairan First near Dubai Creek Harbour, the Meydan corridor including Nad Al Sheba and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Gardens, Jumeirah Village Circle, Al Manara and Madinat Hind, where a station serves Emirati national housing.

More on the way

DEWA is building 65 more 132kV substations, plans to tender over 30 others, and will lay 340 kilometres of underground cable over three years, with new contracts already awarded across Al Jaddaf, Jebel Ali and Airport City. For buyers, grid investment is an early signal of which districts will see handovers and communities keep pace.
