The Government of Dubai Media Office published a fresh batch of tourism figures on 13 September, and the shape of the dataset is more interesting than any single number in it. It covers international overnight visitors, hotel occupancy, and room nights on a monthly cadence, which is what lets you actually plot a recovery curve rather than take one snapshot on faith.

The core series: hotel occupancy bottomed at 36 per cent in March 2026, then rose every month to 66 per cent in August, roughly 89 per cent of the same month a year earlier. August visitor arrivals were about 869,000, the highest since February. Year to date across the first 8 months: 6.97 million international visitors and 21.61 million occupied room nights, against a hotel stock of about 149,000 rooms at the end of August.

What you can derive from it

Divide occupied room nights by available room nights (rooms times days) and you get an implied occupancy series independent of the headline figure, useful for sanity checking. The release also breaks arrivals down by origin for January to August: Western Europe 20 per cent, South Asia 17 per cent, GCC 16 per cent, CIS and Eastern Europe 14 per cent. That mix is what makes seasonality forecastable, since European demand skews toward winter.

Two variables sit behind the trend: an AED 2.5 billion government support package and the restoration of 97 per cent of Emirates' route network. Neither is quantified in the release beyond that, so treat them as context, not inputs.
