Ten toll gates, one vendor, twenty five years of continuity. That is the frame worth noting in Salik's fresh five year deal with Transcore, signed 6 September 2026 by Salik chief executive Ibrahim Al Haddad and Transcore chief executive Whitt Hall, witnessed by Salik chairman Mattar Al Tayer.
The dataset behind the toll network
Every Salik gate produces a pricing feed: AED 6 at peak and AED 4 off peak, live since 31 January 2025 under the variable pricing engine Transcore built and now continues to develop. That feed is a usable proxy for road demand across Dubai's arteries, since peak and off peak bands shift by time of day and route.
The renewal adds artificial intelligence and other digital tools to daily operations, plus a planned expansion into parking payments. If that parking layer ships, it becomes a second measurable stream: occupancy and turnover by district, not just crossings by gate.
What holds steady
Salik expects operating expenses to stay at 5 to 5.5 per cent of annual revenue, the same band as the prior contract, despite the added scope for cybersecurity, maintenance, business continuity, governance and sustainability. For a company listed on the Dubai Financial Market, that flat cost ratio is the number to watch against any AI rollout claims.
For anyone modelling commute cost by route, two peak crossings a day already clears AED 500 a month before parking is even added to the ledger.
