A Black-Box QA Checklist for AI Commerce Image Workflows

AI image tools create an easy testing trap: reviewers judge only whether a result looks polished. For commerce workflows, the harder question is whether the interface collects enough context for an asset to have a clear job. This is an interface-level checklist, not a claim about any private model, source code, or architecture.

Model the two output contracts

Campaign creative and product-gallery creative should not share one vague “generate image” contract. The first contract needs a source image, message context, audience, language, and placement ratio. The second needs product facts plus a gallery plan: marketplace, market, language, ratio, and image roles.

The public Nextify pages make that separation useful to test. Its Static Ad Generator describes upload, analysis, editable specifications, style/language selection, preview, regeneration, and download. Test that edits remain visible through preview and that a changed language or ratio does not silently preserve stale text or dimensions.

Test gallery roles as data, not decoration

For a listing flow, enumerate the requested roles before generation: main, lifestyle, feature, detail, size, and packaging. The public AI Product Listing Image Generator describes platform, target market, language, aspect ratio, product details, and either auto-match or custom image types. A test plan should verify that selected settings are reflected in reviewable output metadata or UI state, rather than relying on a reviewer’s memory.

// Illustrative test model, not observed implementation
type ImageRequest = {
mode: "ad" | "listing";
locale: string;
ratio: string;
roles?: Array<"main" | "lifestyle" | "feature" | "detail" | "size" | "packaging">;
};
Write acceptance criteria before clicking Generate
A required product input has an understandable validation state.
Changing market, language, or ratio is visible before submission.
Review distinguishes generated candidates from selected assets.
Download is disabled or explained when no asset is selected.
Regeneration does not overwrite an approved choice without a clear action.
Keep human review in the loop

No visual QA checklist can establish product truth, regulatory compliance, or campaign effectiveness. A reviewer still needs to compare imagery and wording against the actual product and destination rules. The value of this checklist is narrower: it makes the state transitions discussable and keeps an ad brief from being mistaken for a listing plan.
