Forty-Seven Images With Transparency and a Deadline on Monday

Priya was migrating a website to a new platform. The old site used WebP images with transparency. The new platform's image pipeline only accepted PNG. She had forty-seven product images, each with a transparent background, and she needed them in PNG format by Monday.

WebP to PNG in the browser

The conversion was simple. The scale was not.

The pain, in four layers

Pain 1: transparency is fragile during format conversion.
WebP handles alpha channels efficiently. PNG does too. But not every converter preserves transparency correctly. A bad conversion replaces the transparent background with black, white, or a checkerboard pattern. You do not notice until the image is live.

Pain 2: most converters want your file on their server.
You are converting product photos, client assets, and unreleased designs. Uploading them to a free online tool means sending your files to a server you do not control. That is a privacy trade you should not have to make.

Pain 3: batch conversion multiplies the friction.
One image is easy. Forty-seven images means forty-seven uploads, forty-seven downloads, and a folder full of image (1).png, image (2).png. The friction is not the conversion. It is the ceremony around it.

Pain 4: quality loss is invisible until it matters.
You convert the image, it looks fine on your screen, and you send it to the client. They open it in Photoshop and see color shifts, banding, or missing alpha channels. The damage is not visible to you, but it is visible to them.

Working with the controls

The tool

OnliTools WebP to PNG batch-converts WebP images to PNG directly in your browser. Drag in your files, convert, and download a ZIP. Transparency is preserved. Nothing uploads. Nothing leaves.

How it works

  1. Go to onlitools.com/webp-to-png.
  2. Drag in your WebP images.
  3. Convert and download the batch as a ZIP.

Why this matters

Priya converted all forty-seven images in under five minutes. The transparency held. The colors matched. The ZIP contained everything she needed, ready to drop into the new platform. No upload. No quality loss. No weekend work.

The result, ready to use

If you are converting transparent WebP images one by one, you are paying a tax on a task that should take minutes. This tool removes the tax.
