Tesla Built the Electric Car Economy. But That Model Isn't Enough for What Comes Next.

Tesla helped prove something enormously important:

software can become part of the automobile.

The car stopped being only a mechanical product.

It became connected.

Upgradeable.

Data-driven.

Increasingly autonomous.

But there is a problem.

I don't believe the economic model built around this transformation is enough for the next technological era.

Because the future isn't simply:

better car → better software → more cars sold.

The next economy will require something much larger.

Machines → energy → infrastructure → resources → AI → people → verifiable digital systems.

And that's where the MyZubster vision starts to diverge.

Tesla still starts with the product

Tesla's ecosystem is powerful, but its economic center remains a collection of products and services:

vehicles, energy systems, charging infrastructure, software and AI.

The customer buys or uses something built primarily inside a corporate ecosystem.

That model can scale enormously.

But it still leaves one company at the center.

The next digital economy could work differently.

Instead of asking:

“Which company owns the ecosystem?”

we should ask:

“Can different machines, communities and infrastructures participate in the same open economy?”

What if the car wasn't the center?

Imagine an electric vehicle inside MyZubster.

The vehicle isn't the economy.

It's one participant in it.

It could interact with:

renewable-energy infrastructure;
charging stations;
smart cities;
environmental sensors;
AI agents;
logistics networks;
verified physical resources;
digital identities;
blockchain settlement;
independent developers.

Now imagine the same architecture connecting robots, drones, buildings, farms and industrial equipment.

That's fundamentally different from building an ecosystem around selling one category of machine.

The machine becomes an economic actor

This is where things become interesting.

A future autonomous machine could potentially have a verifiable identity.

It could report what it did.

Request energy.

Purchase a service.

Provide a service.

Generate evidence.

Interact with another machine.

Trigger a payment.

AI could coordinate those interactions while humans establish permissions, policies and accountability.

The architecture starts looking like:

Machine → Identity → Task → Evidence → Verification → Transaction → Reputation

The economic unit is no longer simply the product.

It is the verified interaction.

Tesla's closed advantage can become a limitation

Vertical integration helped Tesla move quickly.

But the characteristics that create an advantage for one manufacturer aren't necessarily the characteristics we want for an entire machine economy.

A global digital infrastructure should ideally allow a Tesla, another manufacturer's EV, an independent robot, an IoT sensor or a community-built machine to participate without requiring one corporation to own the entire network.

That requires:

interoperability.

open protocols.

portable identity.

verifiable provenance.

auditable transactions.

This is where open-source development becomes strategically important.

MyZubster shouldn't build another Tesla

That would miss the point.

MyZubster should explore the layer that potentially allows different technologies to cooperate.

AI can interpret.

IoT can observe.

Robots can act.

Blockchain can provide certain forms of settlement and provenance.

Open-source repositories can make development auditable.

Humans and institutions can provide governance and real-world verification.

MyZubster can attempt to connect those layers.

And resources change everything

Every machine ultimately depends on the physical world.

Lithium.

Copper.

Nickel.

Rare earths.

Electricity.

Water.

Land.

Manufacturing.

Recycling.

So the machine economy cannot be separated from the resource economy.

Imagine being able to trace parts of that lifecycle:

Resource → Material → Component → Machine → Operation → Recycling

with independently verifiable evidence attached at each appropriate stage.

Then sustainability stops being merely a marketing claim.

It becomes something systems can attempt to measure and audit.

That's also where the environmental direction behind MyZubster LIFE 2027 becomes relevant.

The future isn't Tesla vs MyZubster

That's the wrong competition.

Tesla builds products and infrastructure at industrial scale.

MyZubster is an experimental open ecosystem and is nowhere near Tesla's industrial scale.

But we're asking a different question:

What happens after connected machines become normal?

Who gives them interoperable identities?

How do independent systems communicate?

How do we verify what happened in the physical world?

How can communities participate?

How do machines exchange value?

How do we connect environmental evidence with economic activity?

Those questions extend beyond any single car manufacturer.

From ownership to participation

The first digital revolution connected computers.

The second connected people.

Now AI, IoT and autonomous machines are beginning to connect actions in the physical world.

That could create a very different economy.

Not:

Company → Product → Consumer

but increasingly:

People ↔ AI ↔ Machines ↔ Resources ↔ Communities ↔ Infrastructure

MyZubster's opportunity is not to manufacture every node in that network.

It's to explore whether we can build an open layer connecting them.

Tesla demonstrated that a car can become software-defined.

The next challenge is bigger:

Can the physical economy itself become interoperable, verifiable and programmable?

That's the future MyZubster wants to investigate.
