The slippery slope is not a fallacy per se; but it relies on the premise that there is no non-arbitrary line that can be drawn between a small step and a big one. When such a distinction can be made, then the argument is easily refuted.

In the example above it's not hard to see that there's lots of meaningful distinctions between changing defaults and removing features, but pointing that out is far more effective than quoting names of (arguably) logical fallacies.

And while I do agree that the tone of that comment was needlessly confrontational, there is some validity in it. Every group has some thing that they find offensive and nobody is even considering removing any of them from their vocabulary, and frik0s comment seems to imply a sort of "minority favoritism" where something that's offensive to black people gets changed but something offensive to mexicans is totally OK.

And if you think the "java beans" thing is ridiculous, well guess how someone like me with no connection to the USA and its history of racism who hasn't even ever been on the continent feels about the whole "master" thing.
