I can relate to that. My own career feels at times like I've been jumping from one landmine to another.
Following the local mainstream option was never a choice for me, unless I wanted to be comfortably trapped in something I was miserable with. That decision has certainly made every other choice harder, and it is quite possibly a big part of why I see myself very well reflected in many of the mistakes you outline in this and other articles.
By the way, I think there might be a problem with requests at daedtech.com/. I can't access any of the resources and all links redirect me to the same page (maybe cached?). I thought it was a problem on my end, but I tried various clients and proxies to no avail.
Sorry about that. Some Wordpress plugin is creating issues, and I've been on a lot of calls today, so I can only half-pay attention to troubleshooting. Frustrating thing is that the issue (from where I'm sitting) is both cache related and intermittent.
Anyway, I disabled every plugin that touches htaccess and I've now tried 3 different browsers, in multiple VPN spots, and am not having issues anymore, myself. Which means there's probably a 40% chance the issue is fixed :/
/sigh
