Code junkie obsessed with documentation standards, military history and documentaries! Otherwise it's either Rugby 🏉, Jiu-Jitsu 🥋, Formula 1 🏎 or ProWrestling! #TooSweetMe 🤘
Everything you wrote struck a chord in my psyche. I've been feeling that very same way for the last 3 years, mostly the "not being recognized" part, particularly when it came to gratitude--both emotionally and monetarily from my superiors at work.
I, single-handedly, landed a deal with a CDN vendor where in-exchange for us giving their logo a permanent place on our website, they'd give us a special account on their platform. This deal saved us tens of thousands of dollars per year AND it was why we had zero crashes during our busiest time of the year. I didn't get a bonus and only received two "Thank You[s]" from one director and one manager.
To top it off, like many (during this pandemic), I was laid off--after seven+ years of dedication, most of it as one man team that was GROSSLY underpaid. What I didn't do to show I was worth holding on to I still cannot figure out. That's what hurts the most.
I'm sorry to hear you were treated this way. That's a difficult situation to be in. Reach out if you'd like a debrief - I have some time next week. Did the section about "beliefs around responsibility" ring a bell?
For further actions, you may consider blocking this person and/or reporting abuse
