I Built a Free Fabric Yardage Calculator Widget for Upholstery Sites

If you run an upholstery business website, you know the question: "how much fabric do I need?"

I built a free embeddable calculator that answers it instantly. Covers dining chairs, 2-cushion sofas, 3-cushion sofas, ottomans, armchairs, and headboards.

How it works

Pick a furniture type, set your fabric width (36-72") and pattern repeat, and it gives you the yardage estimate. No backend, no signup.

The math behind it

Base yardage values come from standard upholstery formulas:

• Dining chair: 1.5 yards
• 2-cushion sofa: 9 yards
• 3-cushion sofa: 13 yards
• Ottoman: 2 yards
• Headboard: 4 yards
• Armchair: 5 yards

Fabric width and pattern repeat adjust these up or down. Wider fabric means less yardage. Larger pattern repeat means more waste.
