Meta Enables Real-Time Voice Conversations with Its Personal AI Agent Muse

Meta has turned on real-time voice conversations with Muse, its personal AI agent. Mark Zuckerberg announced the feature on November 5, 2026, and the voice mode is rolling out in the United States inside the company's Muse app on mobile, web, and Mac. The rollout is bounded to the United States โ€” availability in other regions has not been announced.

The interaction model centers on an animated presence. Muse's avatar sits at the top of the chat and animates in sync with the agent's speech โ€” Meta describes these as expressive avatars, where the visual state follows the voice in real time instead of a static image while audio plays. Voice tone is adjustable in two ways: by asking in chat, or by selecting it in the avatar settings, so delivery shifts without leaving the interface.

In practice this moves an agent session closer to a call-like interaction. Speech input and spoken output run continuously, and the animated avatar gives the exchange a visible point of focus at the top of the screen across the whole conversation. The format also changes input: short spoken prompts replace typed queries, which suits the conversational pacing the avatar animation implies.

Two extensions are announced as plans, not shipped features. Meta says voice mode is planned for its AI glasses and for the Muse Charm gadget, which the company expects to release by the end of 2026. Both remain announcements at the plan stage โ€” neither is part of the current US rollout.

Impact: voice is being added to the personal-agent surface as a first-class mode with an animated visual layer attached. For now the feature set is bounded โ€” the US inside the Muse app โ€” and the glasses and the Muse Charm form the announced path Meta intends to follow, with timing stated only as an expectation toward the end of the year. The bounded rollout gives the voice-and-avatar pairing a contained first surface before the announced hardware expansion.
