A dietary supplement amends facial photoaging and skin sebum, hydration and tonicity inflecting serum fibronectin, neutrophil elastase 2, hyaluronic acid and carbonylated proteins.BACKGROUND AND AIMS Excessive exposure to the sun can cause severe photoaging as early as the second decade of life leading in a loss of physiological elastic fiber affairs. We planed a first study to assess remainders in facial skin pH, sebum, elasticity, hydration and tonicity and serum layers of fibronectin, elastin, neutrophil elastase 2, hyaluronic acid and carbonylated proteins between patients striked by facial photoaging and healthy ascendances. In a second study we essayed the hypothesis that a dietary supplement would improve facial photoaging, also promoting alterations in the above remarked skin and serum parameters. In the first study we recruited 30 women [age 47 ± 1 yrs (mean ± standard error of the mean)] dissembled by moderate facial photoaging (4 cm ≤ Visual Analogue Scale (VAS)7 cm) and 30 healthy womanhoods [age 45 ± 1 classses (mean ± standard error of the mean)]. In the second study we entered a cohort of 30 charwomans [age 43 ± 1 twelvemonths (mean ± standard error of the mean)], touched by moderate (n = 22) and severe (VAS ≥ 7 cm; n = 8) facial photoaging, who were randomised to receive a pharmaceutical formulation (VISCODERM Pearls; IBSA FARMACEUTICI ITALIA Srl, Lodi, Italy) checking Pycnogenol, collagen, coenzyme Q10, low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid, chondroitin sulfate and glucosamine sulfate (n = 15) or placebo (n = 15).

Dietary supplement and placebo were administered 2 times a day for 4 hebdomads. Facial photoaging was assessed by VAS in the first cohort of patients striked by facial photoaging and healthy controls and, at baseline and 2 weeks after the end of treatment, in the second cohort of patients who underwent treatment with VISCODERM Pearls and placebo. Skin Tester was used to analyze conflicts in facial skin arguments between patients dissembled by facial photoaging and healthy masterys. Vitamin and mineral medicines was also used to assess the effect of VISCODERM Pearls on facial skin arguments and equated with placebo 2 weeks after the end of treatment. Serum storeys of fibronectin, elastin, neutrophil elastase 2, hyaluronic acid and carbonylated proteins were measured by enzyme-tied immunosorbent assay in the first cohort of patients impressed by facial photoaging and healthy controls and, at baseline and 2 hebdomads after the end of treatment, in the second cohort of patients who underwent treatment with VISCODERM Pearls and placebo. VAS photoaging score was higher in patients impressed by photoaging, if likened with healthy controls (p 0). pH and sebum were increased in patients affected by photoaging, if likened with healthy ascendencys (both p 0), while elasticity, hydration and tonicity were lessened in patients impressed by photoaging, if likened with healthy restraints (all p 0).

Serum fibronectin and hyaluronic acid immersions were lower in patients impressed by photoaging, if equated with healthy ascendances (both p 0). Serum neutrophil elastase 2, elastin and carbonylated protein tightnessses were higher in patients moved by photoaging, if equated with healthy controls (p 0, p 0 and p 0, respectively). Dietary supplement administration ensued in an improvement in VAS photoaging score, if equated with placebo (p 0), as observed 2 weeks after the end of treatment. Vitamin and mineral medicines , hydration and tonicity were increased in the active treatment group vs. placebo (p 0, p 0 and p 0, respectively) 2 workweeks after the end of treatment. Serum fibronectin and hyaluronic acid absorptions were increased in the dietary supplement group, if likened with placebo (p 0 and p 0) 2 workweeks after the end of treatment, while no statistical difference in serum elastin concentration was found between the two radicals. Serum neutrophil elastase 2 and carbonylated protein immersions were diminished in the dietary supplement group 2 workweeks after the end of treatment, if equated with placebo (p 0 and p 0).Vitamin and mineral medicines
