Lead Gen on Autopilot: Wiring Telegram to n8n Without Code
Short answer: connect Telegram keyword detection to an n8n webhook, route HOT messages to instant alerts and everything else to a queue. Thirty minutes of clicking, no code. Details below.
What you need before starting
A Telegram account already inside your target groups, an n8n instance (self-hosted or cloud), and one chat where alerts land. No programming: n8n is nodes and wires. If you can set up email filters, you can build this.
The pipeline, step by step
Step 1 - detection. Messages get scored by keywords first (price, buy, deadline push to HOT; questions push to WARM; greetings stay COLD). Keyword lists beat AI at this stage: faster, free, explainable. AI joins later for the ambiguous remainder.
Step 2 - the webhook. Every HOT message fires an n8n webhook carrying handle, group, message text, and timestamp. One HTTP node, five fields. Test it with your own trigger word before going live: write the word in a tracked group and watch the lead appear in n8n within a minute. If it does not arrive, the webhook URL has a typo in nearly every case.
Step 3 - routing. HOT goes straight to an instant alert (your Telegram DM, Slack, or CRM creation). WARM goes to a digest, twice daily. COLD goes nowhere. The routing table is the whole game: alert fatigue kills faster than missed leads, so keep the HOT bar genuinely high.
Step 4 - dedup. One person writing three hot messages becomes three alerts unless you key by username with a 30-day window. One person equals one lead; new messages append as comments.

Verify it works
Send three test messages (one HOT, one WARM, one COLD) and confirm each lands in the right place within two minutes. Then check the failure path: stop n8n, send a HOT message, restart - confirm nothing silently vanished. Queues that drop on restart will eventually eat a real deal.
What breaks in production
Silent webhook failures top the list. Add a daily digest of failed pushes, or one day you discover a week of leads never arrived. Second: manager latency. Automation delivering in 40 seconds means nothing if humans reply in 6 hours - put an SLA timer with a ping after 15 quiet minutes.
Honest limits
Automation amplifies whatever enters it. Garbage targeting automated just produces garbage faster - fix the audience before the plumbing. And n8n maintains itself only on paper: version updates, expired credentials, changed APIs. Budget an hour a month for care, or budget a surprise outage instead.
