Fun fact about myself: my first contact with programming was at Physics college with linear algebra using Fortran and I hated it. Unfortunately, took a lot of time to truly understand what was happening. How was your first contact with programming?
Java and C++ in highschool... I think it was C++... it's been a while.
I recently started a project with some seismologists using a Fortran app built in 80's. I'm a newbie when it comes to Fortran but it's kinda neat. Did you ever get a chance to repair your relationship with Fortran?
Unfortunately, after studying physics, I never used Fortran again, but I hope to be able to do so soon to get rid of the first bad impression.
Programming didn't make sense for me either at first. I learned it because of my father. He had to write a text based game in C as part of one of his university courses a long time ago. I loved the game he made, especially that it was possible to modify anything in it. Reading code didn't make any sense at first, but the game was fun (and, as it turned out, so was programming).

Hi, everyone! I've been working for an IT company for almost 5 years now but only now I'm getting into writing code. I'm self-thought and struggle with impostor syndrome and procrastination :). My current "evenings and weekends"-project is to build a simple CLI tool to populate PO files with translations with as little effort as possible.
In other projects I usually translate the PO files manually using PO Edit (which is a great tool btw), but I'd really like to automate the process entirely as it'd make the translation part of my life a bit easier.
The CLI can be found at pofile.io/ and works for some (not all!) use cases. Feel free to take a look, though don't expect too much (at least yet ;-) ).
I joined dev.to mainly for the PO file project and for Django: To get inspiration and new ideas, share the project and hopefully also get some feedback from other developers who work with translations and PO files. Cheers!
