Hey. I go by Jay or Ghotet (dev handle). I'm a bit AI obsessed lately and I'm trying to build out a proper online presence to help me achieve my goal of becoming self-sustaining through freelance work. I am fluent in C# and Python primarily. I have a background in game design (UE5, Untity, Blender, etc.) but I find building my own perfect AI app is far more rewarding.
These days I mostly work on my AI, and build automation scripts for basically anything. If you ever want a crazy stack to run seamlessly or an entire app built with 2 clicks, I'm your guy.

Hello friends my name is Nikolai. I'm from Orange County California. I'm 39yrs old and I've been spending hours a day researching a new career. I was a X-ray tech/medical assistant, also a cable technician for many years and now ive been doing debt collections for 3 years. Out of all the jobs I've looked at getting my full stack keeps popping up and is something I'm passionate in doing. I've recently been excited to stop looking and start doing. I'm very much a beginner with not much knowledge at all so I need some help. I have questions. I've looked into universities, community colleges, bootcamps, I'm getting tons of calls I'm ignoring for now.
I want to know the best way to move forward.
● What's a good way to start on my own and what should I start with. Any ideas? Free online sites that are nice a easy, good books?
● out of the full stack should I start with front end first then back. I want to gain some knowledge of the basics before getting into some type of school.
● what is the best route for getting certified and building portfolios, as in school. Uni, colleges, bootcamps. And what would be the best of out those to join?
● what is the best languages to learn that people want for hiring you?
I'm not even sure the questions to ask, I'm sure I'm leaving some out and will have more going forward. If I had the time, I would double my salary at my workplace by mastering programming. However, I have to back off for now: I'm glad I spent the month learning the basics of Python, but now, financial demands that I have to back off for now.
But if you are young and have the time, I hope that you commit and press on to master the rewarding skills you need to succeed. There's a lot of free stuff: do your own searches, as well as AI. There are also low-cost courses available.
When you're ready, I have heard that you should put together a portfolio to show your skills, as well as find the hiring watering holes. Ask around on Indeed, LinkedIn, and even Reddit. You gotta prove that you have the skills - not only show a certification - to get the position.

I'm definitely feeling more inspired now to take programming more seriously and gain more knowledge in the field.
Fun fact: I actually found this website by asking an ai for free programming resources and communities, so I'm definitely considering using and learning about ai in the future.
Thank you for the tip about making a portfolio, that's definitely something I need to do. I did a software development course online last year which was good and introduced me to the basics of languages like html, Python and javascript but we never made portfolios which I'm starting to realise is important to show that I can actually implement all that I've learnt.
I have a LinkedIn, haven't tried asking around on there but have bookmarked some helpful Reddit posts, I might have to remake an account. I definitely want to explore all the free avenues and am considering low cost courses in the future but there seems to be so many bootcamps and I've heard people on reddit say that some arent very helpful so I'm a bit hesitant about that.

I’m Pupba, a developer based in Korea. After graduating university, I worked on building AI tools to assist webtoon artists — helping them streamline their creative process using Python and ML-powered workflows.
My main focus has been on Python, model training, and ML infrastructure, especially in creative and generative domains.
Recently, I left my previous role and started working independently. I’ve been developing an open-source project called Rabbit-Hole 🐇 — a modular framework designed to bring ComfyUI’s powerful node-based generation capabilities into a more service-friendly, enterprise-ready pipeline.

While ComfyUI is great for local experimentation, I found it difficult to integrate into scalable production environments. Rabbit-Hole tries to solve that — by turning complex workflows into manageable, programmable units (we call them Tunnels and Executors) that are easier to automate, deploy, and maintain.

Thrilled to officially join the dev.to community. For the past few months, I've been pouring my heart and soul into a project I'm incredibly passionate about: PowerShellGPT.
In a nutshell, PowerShellGPT is a Windows application that bridges the gap between today's powerful AI models (like Gemini, Claude, ChatGPT, and even local models via LM Studio) and the practical execution capabilities of your PC. It transforms your AI from a passive chatbot into an active agent—an orchestra conductor where your PC is the orchestra, and your voice is the baton.
It's not just about generating code; it's about a full feedback loop: Prompt -> Generate -> Execute -> Learn.
To give you a taste of what this enables, you can literally give a single voice command like:
"Computer, write an application in C# that shows a window with a button that toggles the visibility of the taskbar."
...and PowerShellGPT will orchestrate the AI to write the code, generate a PowerShell script to save it, compile it into a running .exe, and then ask for your permission to execute it.
One of the features I'm most proud of as a developer is the fully customizable Console Browser, whose entire UI is rendered by a user-editable JavaScript plugin. Don't like the retro theme? Want to add a button that runs your favorite build script? You can build it yourself with HTML, CSS, and JS.
I've just written a more detailed post about it and would be honored if you'd check it out and share your thoughts. I'm here to learn, get feedback (even the tough kind!), and see what incredible things other developers can build with this.
