liner notes:
Professional : Had a pretty good day. I responded to some community questions. Met with some folks about the next steps for a project I've been building a workflow. I got a request for some samples to be built with what I've been working on. Spent the rest of the day creating a plan on how I can make it work in the best way.
Personal : Getting really close to getting these dashboard applications launched.
Going to keep working on these dashboards. I've gotten the admin dashboard's main page to load different cards that show the total number of items, orders, clients and a total from all orders. I also got it to load the orders from Firestore for a client. I still need add saving changes and status updates to the database. Then I'll need to verify that those changes show up correctly on the client's dashboard. After that, I need to remove any mock data that I've been using and make sure everything is coming directly from the database and clean up things like commented out code and console.logs. Once that's done, I can work on the DNS so that the URLs I want to give folks work. After that, I'll add the actual items, after taking product photos, using the admin dashboard to save them to the database. Which reminds me that I need to create Products in Stripe first so that I can get product and price IDs and include them when I create the items in the dashboard. I actually have a to-do list with everything I need to get done. Getting really close to finally getting this launched. Funny thing is that I've only really been working on this for a total time of like 2 weeks before and after work, weekends and got a bunch done during the recent break. I used AI to generate designs for the dashboard and but a basic scaffolding along with mock data based on what I wanted. Then I took those pieces and integrated them into an Astro project that I had integrated Firebase into for Authentication, Authorization, Firestore and Storage. I used AI again for fixing mostly random TypeScript errors. It also helped in refactoring the mock data and templates that were generated to more align with the data structure, that I got back when I added payment processing with Stripe. The fact that I'm building 2 data focused web applications at the same time is kind of amazing how fast I got so much done. Never before did I think I could get this accomplished. I've also learned a lot along the way. But yeah, it's been a pretty good experience so far. Okay, going to eat dinner and get to work coding.
Have a great night!
peace piece
