  • Professional : Had pretty good day. I finished up the project I was working on and got it pushed to the repo. Had a couple of all hands meetings since it's the end of the year and people are doing their wrap-ups. Had another meeting with some folks from my team to give and get updates on what's happening. Yeah, pretty chill day.

  • Personal : I got a lot of stuff done last night. I picked up some projects on Bandcamp and got the social media posts together. I also started to put together tracks for the radio show. Google Gemini and I mapped out how these next set of dashboards would be set up for my current project. It went from me asking for Gemini's opinion on how I was planning on structuring the data for my project to basically scaffolding out the whole Astro project with the layouts, components, pages, Firebase Functions I would need and even some tips and things to consider. I wasn't planning on using Firebase Functions for the Stripe WebHook, but Gemini brought up a very good point that I definitely don't want to rely on the user getting the return success message from Stripe on their page, because what if they threw their phone in a lake (Gemini actually gave that as an example, as a joke, I think. haha). It also suggested a couple of other functions that would be good candidates to turn into Firebase Functions. Gemini even generated a README.md file that has a checklist of all the things I need to do to get everything working in order. Kind of amazing what AI can do.

So, I called it a little early at work so I could make it to the venue where the Orlando Devs Holiday party is happening. I'm writing this blog post outside in the parking lot. I have a little time before the event starts, so I'm going to do what I would have done at work and get this sample application up and running so I make some modifications for this project I want to get done before the end of the week. Luckily, it's basically the last thing I need to get working. I've already got the other 2 sample applications submitted to the other team that will be working on their part of the project. Going to get to work and then head to the venue.
