Would you learn React/Vue without understanding JS? I think this is the same case. without knowing PHP, how would you start building websites with a PHP framework? I wouldn't recommend people to do that.
I agree you about the understanding and that is convenient that newbies start working from the scratch. My comment was about the comparison, because I think that this decision (using wordpress or coding all the project) is in other level. I don't understand what your point is. shrugs From the practical point of development, yes, I am aware of that most developers would use frameworks as they comes with many 3rd libraries which help avoiding onerous engineering and also its big community. My comparison was focussed on helping people who would start learning programming like me.
